It was only natural for me to study weaving. I have been making crafts and sewing since I was old enough to be trusted with a needle. I earned a B.A. in design at East Carolina University in 1975, and have continued learning new techniques by experimenting and by studying with fiber artists such as Madelyn Van der Hoogt, Alice Schlein, Barbara Cooper, Donna Sullivan, Jozef Bajus, and Holly Brackmann. I teach weaving in workshops and classrooms for all levels and ages.

When weaving clothing and accessories, I usually mix a variety of yarns and fibers. I enjoy developing cloth with textures and patterns not found in commercially woven fabric. I also weave ecclesiastical pieces such as stoles, banners, and altar cloths and fabrics for the home. Nature provides the inspiration for most of my colors, many of which I dye myself.

I’m always experimenting with new techniques and non-traditional materials to create wall hangings, and sculptural pieces. By mixing wire and yarn, I design cloth that can be shaped after it is woven. I also mix fibers and etch the cloth, a process called devore. My latest experiments focus on woven shibori, a resist dye process.

I hope you enjoy my creations.
