Every spring as new growth emerges from seemingly lifeless seeds I am awed by the beauty, variety, and resilience of nature. As an artist, I’ve strived to capture this feeling of growth by taking my weaving beyond the two-dimensional plane of woven cloth.
Mixing copper wire on the loom with various materials allows me to make a cloth that can be bent, twisted, and wrapped into shapes reminiscent of the forms I see when I walk through the woods.
I want my work to suggest a potential for growth. The seeds of life are all around us, reminding us that nature, like the human spirit, will always prevail even through the harshest of conditions.
